I had a fab birthday on Wednesday, with lots of lovely presents from everyone! I decided not to leave things to chance this year and opted for the present list approach. I know I should be grateful for whatever I get, but sometimes some people just need a little bit of help. Especially those in my family.
I'm really into cupcake making at the moment. These cakes are made with my new kit, and displayed on my new stand (both on the list). They are for my party tomorrow night.
It's my first ever Murder Mystery Party. I'm excited and nervous at the same time, having not ever been to one before. In true Burb style I've gone completely over the top and the whole place will be decked out in red, black and white for my oriental themed night. I can't wait! :) x

She's back!!
My lovely, darling sewing machine is back where she belongs AND she lives to see another day (and hopefully many more after that)...
I've been given strict instruction on what thread and needles to use with her in the future (who knew it could make such a difference?!?!). Now I just need to find where I put all my machine accessories and I'm ready for my course to begin.
In the meantime I was able to finish my project from last night, turning these fab fabric squares..
Into this not so little fab pincushion.
All in all a good day, who knew finishing projects could be so easy. Maybe the not being at work thing is helping somewhat, I could get used to this. :)

Come back, all is forgiven...
Why is it that sometimes I can go weeks, months even without setting eyes on my sewing machine, but as soon as it breaks, everything I want to do involves one?
It's been gone a week and a half now and it's driving me crazy!
I cut out these pretty fabric squares tonight for my next project and couldn't really do much more. I'm loathed to hand sew anything when I know it'll be ten times quicker on a machine! Fingers crossed I get her back soon!

Project Hippo
I bought this cute little kit in the John Lewis sale (for a bargainous £4).
In true Burb style, once I'd opened the box I decided that I didn't like the fabric provided, or the instructions! Ideally I would have opted to machine some bits, but as my sewing machine is still to be fixed it was all up to me and my fair hand!
I think she turned out OK in the end.. annoyingly the kit only supplied enough wadding to fill the head, but I fixed this by raiding my kitchen for some pearl barley (best use for it IMO). I now have my very own hippo doorstop! :)

All signed up and ready to go...
Have just signed up to a fab online sewing course from http://frecklednest.blogspot.com, I'm very excited and can't wait for it to start!!
The course includes instructions on 26 different projects. 26!! I think that's more projects than I've ever finished in my lifetime.
Now I just need to hope my sewing machine is back from the vets and working in time. After 15 years of ignoring and randomly abusing the thing, the tension blew. It earnt me a stern telling off from Mum for not looking after it properly; never having even replaced a needle on it (why would I do that if it wasn't broken?). She did however agree to get it fixed as a birthday present. :)
Roll on August and let the projects commence! :)

Too.Many.Projects
Am I the only one who flits from project to project? Always starting something new, but hardly ever finishing anything? I'm becoming my Mother, who in turn became hers in much the same way. This last thought troubles me greatly.
My mid-year resolution is to actually finish something... or possibly start something new to finish? Hmm, I sense that this is going to be harder than I first thought.
Just got the best delivery of fabrics from www.saintsandpinners.co.uk.
These Cloud9 pieces are my favourite!
Have so many ideas popping around my head.. Where to start? Where to finish?
